Los Angles Sevens for AEG / USA Rugby
After covering the USA Sevens in Las Vegas for the last several years Rouleur Creative were brought on to provide photography and social media content for the inaugural Los Angeles Sevens at Dignity Health Sports Park, the home of the Los Angeles Galaxy.
Arriving the Monday before the weekend event we conducted a photoshoot involving all 16 teams on the circuit as creative for the 2021 event, and covering events in the buildup to the event including school visits for the HSBC Adopt A Country Program, sponsor and fundraising and a captain’s picture with the trophy on Huntington Beach before the matches began.
The change to Los Angeles brought a change in atmosphere and brought in the glitz and glamour of Hollywood with David Hasselhoff making an appearance on the Sunday and thrilling those in attendance.
The United States had won the previous two years in the absolute fortress that Sam Boyd Stadium had become but the treble wasn’t to be. The lack of a home victory was made up for by an incredible final between South Africa and Fiji, in one of the most exciting matches in memory. South Africa scored on the final play of regular time and followed it up with the golden try in extra time to win the tournament.
